Read MoreWe had not watched a loved one play soccer since our Sara was on the field in her youth. Watching a precious young loved one on the field opened the floodgates of wonderful memories this past Saturday. We found ourselves cheering from the sidelines and even our feet twitching as if we had control of the ball. Where does the time go? It seemed like just a few years ago we were the cheering parents. It was a joy and a lovely time reliving this experience with a new generation of family.
Time blessed us with our lovely Sara, now a responsible adult with a marriage and career of her own. Our bow wearing soccer player treated me to brunch and a lovely musical yesterday. What a gift! Quality time together is a prize possession. I am so thankful to see her beautiful nature, contagious smile and care for others. There is a gift in each day and while time cannot be slowed there is much to be enjoyed through the ages, and I am so very thankful for all these gifts and all the memories along the way. It is okay if I still see her wearing a bow, turning cartwheels and skipping down the field in my mind from time to time.
I am convinced that most people do not grow up...We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up. I think what we do is mostly grow older. We carry accumulation of years in our bodies, and on our faces, but generally our real selves, the children inside, are innocent and shy as magnolias.
