Gratitude Photography Project 2014
Read MoreHappy August. It is a Friday, the end of the work week for most people and the beginning of a weekend. If there was a vote on a favorite day of the week, my guess it would be one of three days, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Since Friday is the entrance to a weekend, one thing that most crave is rest. Rest is important to leading a fulfilling and full life of meaning. It is a time of recharging the body. It was only a few decades ago that Sunday was the day of rest-a day of attending church and relaxing. Stores were closed, families spent time together, and quite a few naps were probably enjoyed. Many still follow this nostalgic and therapeutic path.
This image invites one to take a seat, relax and watch the world pass. It was in Central Park that I came across this unique tree. It looked like the limb was worn smooth by people taking advantage of its offer.
I am grateful for the days that are given to rest, faith, family and reflection. The batteries are recharged for the week and something new might even be learned in the process that adds value to the week. I like what Maya Angelou has to offer here.
“Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence. Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” ~ Maya Angelou,
Peace.
