Gratitude Photography Project 2014
Read MoreWe are fortunate to have a favored mountain town here in Colorado for 31 years, Crested Butte. It is breathtakingly beautiful. There is something about the raw natural beauty of this area and the unique and dynamic people who have found a way to make a living in this gorgeous town. The friendliness of the locals adds to the attraction.
One witty story on one of our lasts visits occurred while we were waiting for our breakfast at Izzy's. We were enjoying the sunshine on the wooden benches in front of this favorite breakfast and lunch spot. We struck up a conversation with a couple of guys half our ages. They gave us tips on where to hike that day and also invited us to play frisbee golf in the park with them after breakfast. This is another characteristic of this special town. It is refreshingly different. You will not find the glitz of its neighbor mountain town Aspen which is on the other side of the the Maroon Belles. This is a place that speaks to our souls. Raw beauty and a love and admiration for nature. We are fortunate to return to this special town for the 3rd year in a row. Life is good, and I am grateful.
This is an image taken with my iphone last year that captures the personality of Crested Butte. The healthy flowers, the colorfully painted door and building and the vintage bike with the essential basket. This town is a gem and it offers us a wide variety of hiking options, when the rivers are not raging, fly fishing, and just as important time to sit on a bench and take it all in and pretend you could be a local.
There is something about this town that makes you want to stay. I met a woman who became a friend that came for lunch, loved it so much she bought a place.
