Here in the foothills we have had the presence of a rather rude intruder the past few days, the wind. 73 mph gusts rearrange the cover on deck furniture and endanger the traffic on the roads. When it is windy life just seems unbalanced to me. Maybe it is because nothing in nature looks quite right to me. I just think wind is uncalled for altogether.
I awoke this morning to silence and beautiful falling snow. What a gift! The quiet beauty of the snow encouraged me to slow my step and enjoy. The birds' song seems sweeter in the quiet snow. I grabbed my camera and stepped outside heading to our neighbor's feeder. Black-capped chickadees enjoy our meadows in the winter and are frequent visitors. I am filled with thanks for this time with nature. Thank you wind for your absence today. Feel free to stay away awhile. We will be fine.
