Evergreen Lake is a true gift to the community. It is a beautiful mountain lake created by damming Bear Creek in 1927. This lake sits at an altitude of 7200 ft. It is used year round as a recreation area. In the winter one has a choice of ice fishing, ice skating or ice hockey and on New Year’s Day the Polar Bear Plunge benefitting local charities is a popular event. In the summer many enjoy the paddle boats, canoes , kayaks, sailboats, or paddle boards. Fishing is very popular in the summer whether it is by fly or lure. Year round it is popular for birdwatching and hiking. Just driving by the lake on the way to an event is a pleasure.

This image from the south shore captures the paddle boards that are waiting for their paddlers. It is a wonderful lake to enjoy a family outing. Kayaking on the lake is an activity my family enjoys. It is fun to take guests for a ride on the beautiful waters and soak in the beautiful mountain scenery.
