Read MoreThe innocence of a child is a precious commodity. Merriam Webster’s second definition of innocence is the lack of experience with the world and with the bad things that happen in life. Is it a waste of time to look at the world through a child’s eyes? I don’t think it is. In fact I will go out on a limb and say the world could use more of it. Children look at the world through a lens which is not distorted with negativity or judgement. As adults we may not be able to see the world through a child’s eyes, but surely we could have the heart of a child where goodness and love run amok.
This image was captured on a Saturday in a Trastevere plaza. This area of Rome is where one can get away from the crowds of the tourists and mingle with the locals. We observed this performer for a bit. He caught us off guard at first and we had to take a closer look. When this child spotted him, she slowly made her way to him. The expression on her face was priceless. I wonder what the performer’s expression looked like.
I am grateful for the lessons children teach us.
