Read MoreBe the light in someone's life. I am deeply grateful for those who let their light shine so that the rest of us can benefit. Life can be challenging at times and our support system of family, friends, church and clubs is essential. What happens when a hurting person does not have a support system? Or chooses not to use one?
In our discussion today at Bible Study the topic came up of suicide in our area high schools and network of friends. In the US more people die of suicide than car accidents. Did you know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death? This is not right. Hurting people need to know that they are loved and valued and life would not be the same without them.
This image speaks for itself. Look at it today though as a beacon that represents the light you could be in someone's life. We never know when we cross paths with a person what exactly is going on in their life. Be the light. Make time. Even if it is just to say hello.
The thing about light is that it really isn't yours; it's what you gather and shine back. And it gets more power from reflectiveness; if you sit still and take it in, it fills your cup, and then you can give it off yourself. ~ Anne Lamott, Traveling Mercies
